- May 8th:
The exhibition opens for all. In the evening there are a representation for
the friends of the museum. We participated in the main entrance with informing
about our ship and
- May 7th:
Preparing opening of the exhibition. The King, Queen arrived at 7.30 and left
at 8.45, after visiting the Viking ship and the Crewmember, Lars Gjessing
delivered a special gift: A coin made together with Norwegian Mint and
Canadian Mint in 1999 to celebrate 1000 years celebration of Vinland. The King
and Queen had time to speak to the crew and warm up the young cremember Lars,
who were shivering after waiting half an hour outside.
- May 6th:
Raised the mast and met Hydro people (Torgeir, Janet and Kama) who had meeting
with the museum.
- May 5th:
Lied out more bags of sand under the ship. The ship lays perfect outside the
museum.
- May 4th:
Launched the ship in the Museums pond!. Mark organized raise of the water
level and we put sandbags under to stabilize the ship. This will be optimal
setting for the presentation when the King and Queen arrive.
- May 3rd:
Press conference
outside the Civilisation Museum for profiling the exhibition: The North
Atlantic Saga. We could not launch the ship in Ottawa River because of high
water level
- May 2nd:
Picked up the ship on Montreal harbour. Harry Foster used much time to clear
up custom uncertainty. Press conference in Montréal profiling the exhibition
on the Civilisation museum.
- April
19th: The
Ambassador
sent an invitation to our cultural ballast: Tor Jacobsen
and Lina Dybdal from
Kulturstua i Ro
and the musician Harald and Mari Foss from Gvarv in Telemark. There are plans
for celebrating the 17th of May on the
Civilization Museum
in Ottawa with the Viking ship "Mjøsen Lange" on the shore of the Ottawa
River.
- April
13th: Lill-Ann Chepstow Lusty mentions Our ship in the new book,
named "Absolutt Viking". It will be presented on the Museum. The book
is full of pictures from modern Viking activity. The text is written by Ivar
Eskeland and is published by the "Norske Samlaget”. Pictures from the book
will be presented on the the Civilization Museum. It will also be presented on
Galleri-Z on Lillehammer in September.
- April
11th: Signed contract with Norsk
Hydro and
delivered the Viking ship on Bekkelagskaia in Oslo for further transport via
Hamburg to Montreal.
- April
11th: Published the new web pages on our new domain:
www.mjosen-lange.no
- April
10th: Transported the Viking ship to Oslo.
- Mars and
April: Maintained the ship with Linseed oil and tar
